Seven Seas Entertainment announced just about a year ago the license acquisition of the manga series Chainsmoker Cat by Nyan Nyan Factory. The series began in 2023 and has eleven volumes so far, with it ongoing.
Now, an anime adaptation has been announced with plans for a July 2026 debut. The first blush details have been released along with a promo and visual below.
The series features Taku Kimura directing it from the scripts by Takashi Aoshima. Riki Matsuura is handling the character designs with Bibury Animation Studio on the production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Yuko Natsuyoshi as Yani

Plot Concept: Yani is a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit. She smokes so much that her apartment smells like ash and is littered with cigarette butts—and plenty of other trash! Every time she tries to quit, she becomes weak to the cravings and gives in almost instantly. Will she ever get her life together, or is she doomed to live as a chainsmoking slob forever?
