Striking out on his own!

What They Say:
The property focuses on a woman who is getting on in years, but all her cats think she’s a man so they call her Ojii-chan. One day a brazen cat named Tsushima appears in Ojii-chan’s yard.

Pets and their medical problems are always a thing, though depending on what you have you can sometimes have a less problematic pet. Cats have a fair amount that can go wrong and this episode opens with Tsushima complaining about his tooth, which has the old lady going into overdrive panic about it. The vet can’t handle it in-house so she has to bring Tsushima to the animal hospital, which is hilarious in itself just getting him into the carrying case. When she comes back for him later after he’s been helped, Tsushima’s definitely not happy with the whole thing and actually leaves for a while once she brings him back home. And that really makes her sad, though he plays up his wandering lifestyle while crashing with others in a rather cute and domineering way.

In Summary:
While this series is fun in general, this episode feels like it worked even better than usual with what it wanted to do. There’s some good emotion to be had throughout it, Tsushima follows a familiar pattern, and the old lady really does delight as she’s in a tizzy over the disappearance. Tsushima’s being hurt by her taking him to the vet is how most animals likely feel, but they also had a bit of a pact so it’s not a surprise to see it unfold as it does here.
