WIT Studio brought out their big new project this summer with Great Pretender with its June 2nd, 2020 debut in Japan. The fourth and final case has been a separate piece that was coming later for quite awhile and Netflix recently confirmed a November 25th, 2020 debut for it where they’re calling it “season two.” The official Japanese site has now updated with a new 90-second promo to showcase it even more, which definitely gets one excited.
The series is directed by Hiro Kaburagi based on the scripts from Ryota Kosawa. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is on the character designs and Hirotaka Kato is serving as the chief animation director along with Kyoji Asano.
The Japanese cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Makoto “Edamame” Edamura, Junichi Suwabe as Laurent Thierry, Natsumi Fujiwara as Abigail “Aby” Jones, and Mie Sonozaki as Paula Dickins.

Plot Concept: Makoto Edamura is supposedly Japan’s greatest swindler. Together with his partner Kudo, they try to trick a Frenchman in Asakusa but unexpectedly get tricked instead. The Frenchman, whom they tried to swindle, turns out to be Laurent Thierry- a much higher-level ‘confidence man,’ in control of the mafias. Edamura is yet to find out what fate awaits him, after having engaged in the Frenchman’s dirty jobs…!
