Priyanka Chopra Boards Fourth ‘Matrix’ Film

2 min read
It's time to go back to the Matrix.

We learned in late August 2019 that a fourth Matrix film was coming and that Warner Bros. has confirmed a May 21st, 2021 release date for the film. With production underway, it’s now been revealed that Priyanka Chopra has boarded the project in an undisclosed role. Casting has been interesting with a mix of some from the original series – and we expect a couple of more to be added later – and a new slate of actors as well. Chopra currently has two films coming via Netflix and an Amazon series among other projects that she’s producing.

The film will be written and directed by Lana Wachowski with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity. Casting has also included Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick.

There’s been a push for this the last few years out of Warner Bros. and it’s no surprise as the original trilogy did $1.6 billion twenty years ago worldwide. The potential now, especially with Keanu Reeves even more popular in many ways, is huge. Additionally, you can see the new WarnerMedia group looking at potential ways to expand film into their streaming service as well that launches next year and I would not be surprised at some sort of TV component, or even possibly a new anime component ala Animatrix.
