What They Say
“Would you like to have a fling with me?”

Akeno-san drops a bombshell?! Issei has just started cohabiting with his beloved President Rias, so he’s all “viva sexy time!” But will Akeno-san’s proposition lead to a deadly lovers’ quarrel?! And what will Issei do when faced with a battle over the holy swords?!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
With the massive Rating Game battle between Rias and Riser over, and their wedding engagement finally cancelled, it is time for some rest and relaxation. Well, it would be if it weren’t for the fact that Rias moved in with Issei’s family and sleeps naked next to him every night! Things certainly haven’t gotten dull for Issei, or the reader!

While things are fun at home for Issei, he has unfortunately gotten quite the bad reputation around school for being a pervert. His so-called guy friends, have been spreading rumors about how Issei has been playing pervert dungeon master to Rias, Akeno, Asia, and Koneko; making them all do his evil lecherous bidding. It is so erotic that even Issei wishes it were true. There are even rumors of him and Kiba mixed up in some boy love action. It is all very funny, especially once Issei learns of the rumors and sees how the rest of the student body react to him in disgust.

On the love side of things, Rias is slowly becoming more jealous of other women that might send their affections Issei’s way. Asia is just a humorous sideshow to Rias, but Akeno and all her talents and flirtatious attitude is a whole other story that continues to heat up. Then the appearance of two new girls set up more potential competition for Rias, especially when one of the girls turns out to be Issei’s childhood friend. Well, at least it could have turned out that way if these two girls were not agents of the Church searching Japan for stolen Holy Swords.

This sets up the new story arc that focuses on Kiba’s past as a human and why he agreed to become Rias’ Knight Devil. It is good character development for a secondary character, and also fleshes out a member of the main cast. Since Kiba has sworn to destroy all the Holy Swords of the Church at any cost, it creates some conflict between himself and Rias. Kiba is so obsessed with revenge that he is even willing to go “Stray” and ruin Rias’ reputation if it means he can have his revenge.

Will Kiba’s desire for revenge cause him to turn his back on Rias and his friends? Or will Issei come up with some scheme to help Kiba while keeping Rias happy? Or maybe Issei will just focus on his dream of manhandling Rias’ breasts!?

In Summary
This fifth volume didn’t have the same action punch behind it as the previous fourth volume that ended the first story arc for this series. This fifth volume roughly follows the same story arc beginning and development as the first three episodes of the second anime season. Therefore, the reader learns more of the long-standing war between the White Dragon and Issei’s Red Dragon. There is also some character development for Kiba as his history and the story behind the Holy Swords of Excalibur unfolds, along with a heavy-handed dose of ecchi as Rias and Issei grow closer. Plus, with Issei growing stronger, his dream of his very own harem and all the implications also grows in magnitude. Considering I enjoy this series for the ecchi, this volume was right up my alley and I need more!
