‘Asterisk War’ Anime Cast & Designs Revealed

Asterisk War Visual 2The announcement back in April about the upcoming Asterisk War series hasn’t had a lot of detail since then outside of it being the first two cour series for an MF Bunko J light novel. But now the official site has updated with some new material as it’s revealed the main cast of characters for it while also providing a look at their character designs. The opening theme was announced to be performed by Shiena Nishizawa while Maaya Sakamoto will be handling the ending theme song.

The property comes from the light novel series The Asterisk War: The Academy City of the Water (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk). Written by Yuu Miyazaki, with art by illustrator okiura, so far eight volumes of the light novel “academy battle” action series have been published in Japan, through Media Factory.

The cast now includes:

  • Atsushi Tamaru as Ayato Amagiri
  • Nao Touyama as Claudia Enfield
  • Ai Kakuma as Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld
  • Shiori Izawa as Saya Sasamiya
  • Ari Ozawa as Todo Kirin

The anime series will be produced by A-1 Pictures, and will premiere in the Fall 2015 season. Staff involved include chief director Manabu Ono (The Irregular at Magic High School), director Kenji Seto (Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life), with character design and animation direction by Tetusya Kawakami (Nanana’s Buried Treasure), and music by Rasmus Faber (Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne).

Plot concept: Amagiri Ayato arrives at The Academy City on water, Rikka—famous for the integrated battle entertainment, “Star Wars Festival”—at the invitation of the Student Council President of the Seidoukan Academy, Claudia. Soon after he incurs the wrath of the “Petalblaze Witch”, Julis, and ends up in a duel with her.
