Ex Machina made its debut in North America at SXSW earlier this year and it also made its UK debut on January 23rd, 2015. What we learned at the time was that the film was going to get an April 2015 debut, and now things have solidified around April 10th, 2015, with this new trailer starting the marketing push for it. The feature comes from Alex Garland, who wrote both 28 Days Later and Sunshine, two movies that still stick strongly with me. He’s making the transition from screenwriter to director with Ex Machina. The project stars Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander. Garland wrote the screenplay for it as well. The film was budgeted at $15 million and was filmed in the UK for DNA Films.

Plot concept: Caleb, a 24 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl.
