We’ve had teasers and we’ve had a few pictures from the show come out, but we haven’t had a full on “real” promotional trailer for The Strain yet. That gets fixed today as a thirty second spot has landed that finally gives us the cast, the start of the story and a look at the tone and atmosphere of it. Having only read the first few issues of the comic book adaptation of the novels, it looks like it’s capturing the tone of it very, very well. The show will debut on July 13th, 2014. The series previously got its first season order and is projected to get between 39 and 65 episodes depending on how things go when all is said and done, making this a series worth checking out.
Plot concept: The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
