While Bandai Visual has made its money previously with the OVA releases for Broken Blade, they’ve certainly found a new way to gain a bit more from both the original fans and some new ones that they can get. With the OVA series being re-edited into a twelve episode TV series that’s coming out in April, the home video release has now been set for it. The release will debut on August 27th, 2014 and will be priced at 26,250 yen for the complete box set as doing a standard six volume release really doesn’t make much sense.

This release will come with some good extras, with a new short movie, a picture drama, the pilot film, the clean opening and closing sequences and the commercial and promotional video collection. There’s also a planned 64 page booklet and a new audio commentary that should be available for three of the episodes.

The series that comes from the manga by Yunosuke Yoshinaga is getting a bit of a tweak as it’s going to be broadcast as a TV series with new animation mixed in, presumably to handle episode breaks better mostly, but also with some new material that wasn’t animated in the adaptation as it stands. There’s also going to be a full spinoff OVA that will be focusing on the mystery of Delphine’s creation that’s coming from Yoshinaga directly for the concept. No release date for the OVA is set yet nor is there a broadcast season for the recompiled series itself.

Plot concept: In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects – or control enormous and complex mobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, a young king and his beautiful queen turn to Rygart Arrow. Though an “un-sorcerer,” Rygart can miraculously pilot this ancient and powerful weapon. But in war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.
