Interesting things are afoot when it comes to Cowboy Bebop and its North American plans in 2014. Over the weekend, we saw how Sunrise is working with FUNimation to bring the series over next year in digital and home video form, including Blu-ray. But there’s an interesting wrinkle that will be fun to watch due to Sunrise’s involvement in the Daisuki streaming site as one of the founding/investing partners. FUNimation indicated both Blu-ray and digital rights for the show so they can stream it, but Daisuki indicated at their panel that they hope to have it streaming prior to FUNimation’s home video release in 2014. It would not be unusual to see the show streaming in two places like that – Aniplex is doing staggered simulcast streaming for Monogatari Second Series for example, and having Cowboy Bebop on Daisuki would certainly be a draw for folks. Whether this is the streaming that FUNimation will adhere to or not remains to be seen, though it’s hard to imagine them not wanting it on their site as well.

Series concept: The crew of the Bebop is once again ready to clean up space by bringing bad guys to justice and trying to make some cash while doing it!

Now for the first time ever this Anime classic is available in amazing high-definition Blu-Ray and packaged in a limited edition slipcase and containing bonus content never available outside of Japan before including the “Ein’s Summer Holiday” short and a 40 page booklet.

Join the always-cool Spike Spiegel, investigative genius Jet Black, the alluring Faye Valentine, the amazing (but weird) Ed and the super-smart Welsh Corgi named Ein as they try to make a buck in the year 2071. How do they do it? They’re bounty hunters!
