Sentai Filmworks held their Anime Boston panel this afternoon in Hall D at the Hynes Convention Center and brought about some welcome new anime acquisitions that will becoming up this year. The panel, hosted by David Williams, had a lot of fan questions covering familiar ground and the usual reminder that if they haven’t talked about a title that’s not been licensed, they’re not going to say anything much about it now.

The panel focused initially on rolling through some of the upcoming titles that have been previously announced and note that dub work began recently on Makoto Shinaki’s Garden of Words, which is coming out this August.

One upcoming title that was announced for September is that AKB0048‘s first season will arrive in that month.

October will see the release of Hakuoki season three, which unlike the first two seasons will be getting both the DVD and Blu-ray treatment.

A license rescue of Godannar was announced, bringing one of the more interestingly dubbed shows back into print. As the characters worked in pairs, many scenes were dubbed with the actors in the same booth, which rarely happens.

Digi Charat has been picked up in the form of the TV and OVAs.

Kokoro Connect was also confirmed as likely hitting in October with both DVD and Blu-ray formats as well as Campione!. In regards to Kokoro Connect, it was unknown at the time whether the non-broadcast episodes are included or not. The same was mentioned in regards to the Queen’s Blade Rebellion bridging episode/shorts.

A welcome announcement for old school anime fans was that some familiar hands will be working on Gatchaman again. The full series and the OVAs have been rescued and the show is getting both a DVD and Blu-ray release. There will be a few options in terms of releases as the OVAs are expected to be released with the TV series, but they’ll also be releasing it separately for those that are content with the previous TV series DVD releases that ADV Films did.
