‘Iron Man 3’ Casting Changes Revealed

2 min read

With The Avengers doing boffo business and garnering a lot more interest in general, things are now turning more to the production side for Marvel Studios with the next film to begin with Iron Man 3. Robert Downey, Jr. is set to return but there are a few questions elsewhere. One person who was essentially a lock has now jumped off the production as Jessica Chastain has indicated that she had to pass on the role of the “sexy scientist” they wanted for the feature.

“Sorry to say that ‘Iron Man’ 3 isn’t going to work out,” she writes. “My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx”

The other curious part that continues to be very curious is when Ben Kingsley came on awhile ago. Little has been said about what role he’s playing other than it’s villainous and we’re continuing to hear that this feature will be more espionage/intrigue in nature to showcase a different part of Tony Stark. The folks at MTV caught up with Kingsley and sat him down to talk about it.

“I’m delighted. I’m thrilled,” Kingsley said. “That great team, headed by its inventors and, of course, the great Robert Downey, I’m delighted to join them.”

Kingsley has been  kept in relative dark about his role so he hasn’t been able to do too much research since they don’t want to let too much out of the bag just yet. “I don’t have the information on which to prep yet, because when I do prep, I like to be really specific and focused. I’m waiting to hear more information,” Kingsley said. “I might be with them in early June, and then it’s going to get serious.”

  1. This just sounds typical of Hollywood – somehow people seem to forget about the art of film making. Okay so its an adaptation of the Iron Man comic by Marvel, but for God’s sakes guys take this seriously. Fame and all that, deserved as it may be, should not get in the way of a goo movie production. I was really looking forward to the third installment of Iron Man – I mean The Avengers were AWESOME – ah well…I will wait and see. The end result may not be too bad
