Found footage kinds of movies are hitting at a regular pace overall but there is some growing creativity with it, as we see with Chronicle, due out in 2012 starring Dane Dehaan, Alex Russell, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Kelly and directed by Joshua Trank. The feature is one of the current crop of small budget ones without star power (which means it’ll go only so far with audiences) that looks to work the whole dark horror/super powers kind of angle in an interesting somewhat realistic way. It’s a slow build trailer but is the kind that’s definitely worth checking out for more of.
Plot concept: Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.
