‘Sandman’ Project Still Alive?

2 min read

While fans were pretty mixed on the news from Eric Kripke of Supernatural that the proposed Sandman TV series was essentially dead in the water, it didn’t take long for fans to be thrown for a loop again as Geoff Johns, the DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer, hit to the tweeting and set the record straight.

“Correction to world: The Sandman is AWAKE! Psyched to be working with @neilhimself on developing one of the greatest series ever!”

“Sandman in any form – comics to live action – doesn’t work without @neilhimself”

What we did take away from Kripke’s statement was that there wouldn’t be a Sandman project in the cards for this upcoming season of broadcast TV, but Johns is making it clearer that they are still pursuing development of the project and are most definitely trying to allay fans fears by making sure Neil Gaiman will be involved with it as well.

What is Sandman? “THE SANDMAN, written by New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman, was the most acclaimed comic book title of the 1990s. A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, THE SANDMAN is also widely considered one of the most original and artistically ambitious series of the modern age. By the time it concluded in 1996, it had made significant contributions to the artistic maturity of comic books and become a pop culture phenomenon in its own right.”
