A new anime adaptation that was set for a debut in 2020 with the Kemono Jihen series is making some changes. Known as Monster Incidents, we learned earlier this week that the series will be part of the 2021 plan as the cascading effect of spring shows pushed into summer pushes summer shows into fall and so forth. With that in mind, the official site gave us some cast updates earlier in the week that we covered already but we also have a new key visual that you can see below.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Natsumi Fujiwara as Kabane Kusaka
  • Junichi Suwabe as Kohachi Inugami
  • Ayumu Murase as Akira
  • Natsuki Hanae as Shiki Tademaru
  • Daisuke Ono as Mihai
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Kon
  • Kana Hanazawa as  Inari
  • Hiro Shimono as Nobimaru

Masaya Fujimori is on board to direct it working from the series composition by Noboru Kimura. Nozomi Tachibana is on board with character design work while Ajia-do Animation Works is slated for the animation production.

The series comes from Sho Aimoto which began in 2016 in Jump SQ magazine. It has nine volumes out as of its December 2019 anime announcement.

Plot Concept: In a quiet rural village, a strange incident occurs where many domestic animals die unnatural deaths. To resolve the incident, an odd-looking man from Tokyo who goes by the name of “Inugami” comes to the town to investigate. In the town, he meets a young boy who has a mysterious air about him called “Dorotabō.”
