The House Spirit Tatami-chan Episode #12 Anime Review

This is one of those shows that will fade incredibly fast for the few that were even aware of it.

“It’s a Halloween Party!”

What They Say:
Cute but rude! Tatami-chan is a crazy-cute heroine taking on the ghosts, spirits, and even humans residing in the Tokyo metropolitan area in the new Reiwa era! Oshikiri’s unique style is on full display in this thrilling horror-gag comedy, coming soon! This episode has Tatami heading to Karaoke Sound to experience what it’s like in the big city since they’re everywhere.

The series draws to a close with this episode and I’m reminded of just how barren the world of shorts has been lately by the fact that I kept up with this beyond its first episode. This one focuses on a Halloween costume party in Shibuya where things are expected to get rowdy in the streets, which we see. Tatami loves the sights while others are a little more panicked by the revelry and what it portends. It’s a big street party overall but one where there are a few monsters that mix in on it as well since it’s one of the few times that they can do such things. It’s simple and effective in what it’s doing here and the train ride home at the end is cute but that’s a stretch in the bigger sense here.

In Summary:
Tatami-chan had a few moments across its run where there were definitely earned chuckles and the like but it’s a show that just didn’t have much going for it. It’s a particular type of humor that I know works for its intended audience but the more it went on the less interested I became in it because you could telegraph most of it easily. It does end a bit better here simply because of the way everyone interacts with each other and it being a party, but that’s not saying much. This is one of those shows that will fade incredibly fast for the few that were even aware of it.
