Originally serialized in Weekly Kairakuten from the January 2020 installment, Summer Fall Memory #4 is a sixteen-page story from creator Izure, who has about two dozen other works on the service. While the first story in this piece wasn’t one that thrilled me but the second installment showed some growth while also painting a picture of what a lot of teenage relationships are like – very self-centered. The tables turned a bit in the third but we still pretty much have Akina falling sway to Kouske’s needs, though she at least was verbalizing more of what she wanted and taking more control over it. The serialized nature is what keeps me coming back so I can see where Izure wants to take the story but it’s been inconsistent. Unlike the artwork, which has been great throughout and is once again here.

With the final chapter in the series, the passions are definitely riding high as it picks up where we left off outside of the gymnasium. Akina’s made it clearer and clearer what she wants out of Kousuke and it really is up to him to meet her along the way if he really wants that. While some of it may be his nether regions talking, he has learned that he really misses her and time with her and is on the right path to being a better boyfriend, which leads to being a better lover as well. With the two of them wanting to take it further physically but without any protection on hand, Kousuke is even willing at this point to step up and take all responsibility should anything happen because both of their needs are so great. It’s thankfully not something dealt with in the big picture sense but it does show some real growth and some real craving on both their parts.

The encounter takes place entirely behind the school – and we even get a moment where other students pass by inside – so it’s a kind of awkward piece where they’re just pressed up against the wall under the window. There’s a lot of good intensity to it as both are in full-need mode with how they’re feeling and Akina again makes it clear she wants a lovey-dovey kind of sexual relationship. Which this moment isn’t quite that. But as it progresses there’s a lot to like with it and Akina gets thrown for a greater loop with how Kousuke ends up french kissing her and being more physically tender with her. That, in turn, drives her even more wild and ups the ante with how they’re going at it.

In Summary
Summer Fall Memory doesn’t quite stick the landing as I’d like it to but the epilogue is decent as we see the two as a real lovey-dovey couple that others enjoy watching. Kousuke is definitely far more appreciative of her and the two are connecting better. The bulk of the chapter just follows up what we had from the last one with them consummating their newly renewed relationship and it is pretty good and fun but it’s also got its awkward moments that don’t quite click and land for me, especially some of the angle. I’m definitely curious to see what else Izure has up their sleeve with other works and hopefully they’ll do another serialized bit sometime.
