Anne Hathaway Dreams of Giant Monsters in ‘Colossal’ Film’s First Clip

2 min read

colossalThe Toronto International Film Festival is underway and one of the films that will be playing is Colossal from Warner Bros. Pictures. The project has been an interesting one to watch because it had a lengthy lawsuit put against it by TOHO believing that the use of a giant monster was essentially copyright infringement of Godzilla. With all of that settled, the film is getting its due and the first clip for it has surfaced as well.

“We tried to come up with a new monster,” director Nacho Vigalondo says to EW. “We’ve seen some of those in many films, and we tried to find something that feels unique. As the movie goes on, and you realize how this monster is connected to Gloria, you understand the nature of the beast from a new angle. So yeah, the monster has a twist.”

Written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo, the film stars Anne Hathaway as Gloria, Dan Stevens as Gloria’s ex-boyfriend, Jason Sudeikis, Austin Stowell and Tim Blake Nelson as Garth.

Plot concept: After losing her job and boyfriend in New York, Gloria moves back to her hometown only to discover how strangely connected she is to an enormous creature.
