Avex Pictures Schedules 6th ‘Kingdom’ Anime Season Blu-ray Box Set

The winter 2024 debut of the fifth season of the Kingdom anime went over well, and since it ended, we also saw the manga being picked up for release in English. A sixth season was announced in April 2025 with plans for an October 2025 debut through NHK once again. The opening theme song is “Ikite, Sansan” performed by Ikimono-gakari, while the ending theme song “Hoko” is performed by Sora Tomonari.

With an October 4th, 2025, premiere date, the sixth season wrapped up and confirmed that more is coming with a part 2 work in production. Now, Avex Pictures has set the home video release plans for the first part. The season is getting a single box set release that arrives on June 24th, 2026, priced at 24,000 yen. The two-disc set includes the 13-episode season with on-disc extras of the clean theme songs and various promos. A booklet will be included as well.

For the fourth and fifth seasons, Kenichi Imaizumi took over the directing based on the scripts by Noboru Takagi. Hisashi Abe is on board for the character designs with animation production by Studio Signpost.

The returning cast for the sixth includes Masakazu Morita as Shin, Jun Fukuyama as Ei Sei, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ō Hon, Yuya Uchida as Shun Shin Kun, Miou Tanaka as Kan Mei, and Atsuko Tanaka as Ka Rin. Additional casting includes Daisuke Namikawa as Go Hou Mei (Wu Feng Ming), Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Kou Yoku (Xiang Yi), Yūto Uemura as Haku Rei (Bai Li), Sho Komura as Sou Jin, Daichi Hayashi as Sou Tan, Yu Hayashi as Kan To, Taito Ban as Shun Sui Ju, Hideaki Tezuka as Ba Nan Ji, Hiroki Tochi as Chou Ga Ryuu, Kyosuke Mano as Gyou’un, and Kento Fujinuma as Danto.

Plot Concept: When low-born servant boys, Piao and Xin, set out to become the world’s greatest war generals they quickly find themselves caught up in a violent struggle between two noblemen plotting to overthrow the King. After Piao is killed protecting the rightful ruler of the kingdom of Qin, Xin sets out on a campaign for revenge that leads him straight into the fire of war. Now, with a target on his back and an army of enemies standing in his way, it will be up to a boy with no name and a young king without a throne to return order to their war-torn country in this historical action-drama based on the Tezuka Award-winning manga.
