
A new anime adaptation was revealed back in December 2022, with Eren the Southpaw getting the nod. The announcement via Twitter, which has long since been deleted, didn’t reveal any production details, just an acknowledgment that an adaptation is in the works. A live-action drama was previously produced for it.
The production has now revealed a big new key visual below, while also confirming five more characters being cast with:
- Yui Ishikawa as Sayuri Kato
- Akira Sekine as Akari Kishi
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Yusuke Kamiya
- Yurina Amami as Yurina Mitsuhashi
- Koji Yusa as Ryuichi

The show has Toshimasa suzuki directing it from the scripts overseen by Taku Kishimoto. Takayuki Goto is handling the character designs Signal.MD and Production I.G. would be handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Shoya Chiba as Koichi Asakura
- Yumi Uchiyama as Eren Yamagishi
Known originally as Hidarikiki no Eren, the manga series comes from writer Kappy and artist nifuni which began in 2017 as serialized in Shonen Jump +. It’s complete with twenty-four volumes in Japan and is not picked up for English distribution.

Plot Concept: Halfway through high school, everyone begins to seriously consider their future. Koichi Asakura, who aspires to attend an art school to become a designer, is shocked one day by graffiti scrawled on the wall of an art museum. The artist is Ellen Yamagishi, a left-handed high school student whose talents have been suppressed since a certain incident.
The two eventually come to recognize each other through drawing, and Koichi embarks on his path to becoming a designer, while Ellen embarks on her path to becoming a painter.
