Viz Media previously brought another manga series to print as they released the first volume of Hirayasumi. The first volume saw a May 21st, 2024, release priced at $14.99, with it listed as coming in at 192 pages. With eight volumes released in Japan so far, we learned recently that it has a million copies in circulation in print and digital.
The live-action side was done as a 15-minute per episode series, and it saw a November 3rd, 2025, premiere date through NHK. With a successful and delightful season, a new update has come in on the manga side where it’s now listed as at 1.5 million copies worldwide in circulation in print and digital.
An anime adaptation is currently in the works.
With Kana Matsumoto, Ema Kawanada, and Koji Takatsuchi set to direct, it’ll feature scripts by Yoko Yonaiyama. The production also revealed that Amane Okayama will be the lead, Hirota Ikuta with Nana Mori as Natsumi Kobayashi and Riho Yoshioka as Yomogi Tachibana.
The property comes from writer/artist Keigo Shinzo which began serialization in 2021 in Big Comic Spirits for Shogakukan. Known originally as the same name, it has nine volumes out in Japan so far and is listed as ongoing.
Plot Concept: At 29 years old, carefree Hiroto Ikuta doesn’t have a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a plan for the future—and he couldn’t be happier. Hiroto’s breezy attitude isn’t easy for everyone to understand, though. In a world filled with anxiety, confusion, and grief, Hiroto and the people who surround him are all just doing their best to figure out this thing called life.
After developing an unlikely friendship with the grouchy old granny who lives in his neighborhood, Hiroto suddenly finds himself inheriting not just her house, but some rather difficult emotions as well. His 18-year-old cousin Natsumi moves in with him, but as a struggling art student, she has her own troubles to deal with and may just put Hiroto’s easygoing lifestyle to the test.
