A new anime adaptation was announced at the end of 2023 without much in the way of details with The Story of an Exploration Hero Who Has Worked His Way Up From Common People light novels getting the nod. Way back in January, we learned that the show is on track for a 2024 premiere and it was recently scheduled with a July 6th, 2024 premiere date as A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero.
The Japanese home video side has been set up with Toei opting to bring out the eleven-episode show as a single box set. The Blu-ray set was scheduled for a January 29th, 2025 release priced at 32,000 yen. With On-disc extras to be revealed later, it’ll come with a new original 70-page novel, a 20-page booklet, and two servant cards.
With the set just out, we’re catching up now with a look at the artwork for the case itself and the box set as a whole.
The opening theme song is “UpStart” by Amatsuki while the ending theme song is “Strobe Fantasy” by May’n.
The show has Tomoki Kobayashi directing it from the scripts overseen by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. Shoko Yasuda is handling the character designs with studio Gekko handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes Yuya Hozumi as Kaito Takagi, Kana Hanazawa as Sylphy, Azumi Waki as Haruka Katsuragi, Mayu Sagara as Luceria, Yoshino Aoyama as Airi Jingūji, Saika Kitamori as Miku Moriyama, and Azusa Tsugimori as Hikari Tanabe.
Known originally as Mobu kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyuutan, the light novels from Kaito and Arumikku began in 2019 and has seven volumes out while the manga with Terio Teri began in 2021 as serialized in Dokodemo Young Champion for Akita Shoten. It has three volumes out so far and is ongoing.
