Announced at the Disney Investor Day event in 2020, Star Wars: The Acolyte is one of several projects in the works to bring more to the Disney+ service. The only thing we really know about it from that time until recently was that Lucasfilm had brought on Leslye Headland as writer/creator for it and that it was going to deal with the end days of the High Republic era.

We’ve not had too much to really say about the project overall since last spring as the cast and crew are pretty tight-lipped on it as you’d expect. Things are now firming up as the first prop poster has arrived below for it and has confirmed the presumed June 4th, 2024 release date that has surfaced in a few unconfirmed areas. The first teaser trailer is set for release tomorrow.

“I’m really in love with Leslye’s work,” Amanda Stenberg said last year. “She has a really emotionally profound way to approach the darker parts of ourselves. For a show like this that’s set in this time period, that style is perfect.”

Jung-jae talked about his role last year, saying, “I play the Jedi Master. It was the first time I touched a lightsaber and I’m still shaking from the experience.”

The cast that we knew originally consisted of Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, and Lee Jung-jae. Now, a few more have been added with Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

Plot Concept: The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
