A new anime adaptation is in production with the manga series Mr. Villain’s Day Off getting the green light in February 2023. The show saw a January 7th, 2024 date, and VAP has now revealed that they’ll be handling the home video releases in Japan. The twelve-episode series is being done as a single Blu-ray box set that arrives on May 22nd, 2024 priced at 29,800 yen.
It’ll be a two-disc set that includes a booklet and event priority ticket. On-disc extras are to be revealed later.
It’ll be directed by Yoshinori Odaka from the scripts overseen by Midori Gotou. Tomomi Shimazaki is handling the character designs with Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP handling the production.
The Japanese cast includes:

- Soma Saito as Rooney
- Yuichi Nakamura as Trigger
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Akatsuki Red
- Takuya Eguchi as Soten Blue
- Ai Kakuma as Shinonome Pink
- Hibiku Yamamura as Reimei Green
- Yuichiro Umehara as Yoiyami Black
- Nao Toyama as Yamano
The manga from Yuu Morikawa began in 2018 with Square Enix releasing the series in Japan and in English through Manga UP! It has four volumes out as of April 2023.
