Funimation announced during Otakon 2018 their plans for the Angel Links anime series with it finally being solicited as coming out. After picking it up at Otakon 2013, the series saw a November 2018 home video release, and the show has been streaming in bilingual form on the service as well. Unfortunately, after a heavy push to bring a lot of Funimation titles to Crunchyroll when the consolidation happened a couple of years ago, there are a lot of titles that still haven’t come over for undisclosed reasons. One of those is this series which is still only available on Funimation in its original Japanese language with English subtitles and the English dub originally produced by Bandai Entertainment.

The 1999 anime series, a spinoff from Outlaw Star, was directed by Yuji Yamaguji with character designs by Asako Nishida. Sunrise handled the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Ryoka Yuzuki as Meifon Li, Atsuko Tanaka as, ValeriaHikaru Midorikawa as Kousei Hida, Kazuo Hayashi as Leon, Kazuya Nakai as Serge Jully, Kenji Utsumi as Duuz, Koji Yusa as Nikola Neri, Marina Ono as Elizabeth Aihara-Chang, Miki Itō as Anne Lapin, and Toshihiko Nakajima as Doc Gaward.
The English dub was produced by the Ocean Group with Teri Snelgrove directing it from the script by Kevin McKeown. The English cast includes Mariette Sluyter as Meifon Li, Tommy Campbell as Kosei Hida, Craig Klemme as Nikola, Elizabeth Stepkowski as Valeria Vertone, Ethan Cole as Leon Lau, Meredith Taylor-Parry as Anne, and Dave Kelly as Duuz Delax Rex.
Plot Concept: Li Meifon is the head of a free, no expenses paid protection/security agency for escorting ships across outer space. Though only 16, she possesses great skill and leadership qualities while commanding her crew aboard their ship, the Angel Links. However, some unpleasant memories begin to trouble her and she starts questioning her own past and reason for existence. Join Li Meifon and the rest of the Angel Links crew on their adventures through the Oracion star system as they battle pirates, government organizations, and a Tao master, all while finally uncovering Meifon’s dark and mysterious past.
