With Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki setting themselves up at Netflix for a bit with several projects, the second one was the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 project. The series is planned as a two-cour run with twelve episodes for each season, the first of which landed in April 2020 and had a compilation film release for it as well. With the pandemic slowing things down back then, the second season saw a worldwide debut on Netflix on May 22, 2022.

The second compilation film with Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 The Last Human was previously set with a November 23rd, 2023 release in theaters in Japan for a limited run. Similar to the first film, which saw Netflix streaming later, it’ll have new scenes added to flesh it out in this form.

With the film arriving today in Japan, they’ve now streamed the first twelve minutes of it below for people to check out.

Property Concept: Deep into the twenty-first century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue. In this rapidly converging landscape, cyborg superagent Major Motoko Kusanagi is charged with tracking down the craftiest and most dangerous terrorists and cybercriminals, including “ghost hackers” who are capable of exploiting the human/machine interface and reprogramming humans to become puppets to carry out the hackers’ criminal ends.
