Announced at the end of 2021, the Lycoris Recoil original anime series from Aniplex Japan has Aniplex USA involved in overseas distribution. The series was set for the summer 2022 season previously with it making a July 3rd, 2022 premiere date. The show saw streaming through Crunchyroll while also getting an English dub along the way.
With a home video release earlier this summer, the latest update on the property comes from Toonami. They’ve now announced that the series will make its dubbed broadcast debut on January 20th, 2024 with the premiere time coming later as the nightly schedule gets finalized closer to that debut.
The TV series saw Shingo Adachi directing it with Asura of Ben-To fame credited for the original story with Imigimuru handling the character designs. A-1 Pictures is handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Chika Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi
- Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue
- Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara
- Misaki Kuno as Kurumi
- Kosuke Sakaki as Mika
The series features the opening theme song “ALIVE” by ClariS and a look at the ending theme song “Hana no Tou” by Sayuri.

Plot Concept: For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all.
A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco.
Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris.
The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
