It’s the tenth anniversary of the Tamako Market anime series and Kyoto Animation revealed earlier this year that they’re going to take advantage of it. With a few projects in the works to be revealed, the first one has now gotten the nod with plans for the Tamako Love Story feature film getting a limited theatrical release in Japan. That doesn’t do much for either many fans in Japan or those around the world, but what we do get is a new illustration produced for it by Yukiko Horiguchi, the character designer for the project that you can see below. And it starts the release of information with hopefully more coming soon.

Check out our review of the release via its North American edition as well as our Ten Years Later piece.

The 12-episode series is directed by Naoko Yamada (K-ON!) and features series composition by Reiko Yoshida, character designs by Yukiko Horiguchi, sound direction by Yota Tsuruoka, and music by Tomoko Kataoka.

Plot concept: Tamako knows everything about mochi, the traditional Japanese dessert treats. When she’s not attending her first year of high school, she works at Tama-ya, her family’s mochi shop. However, friendships, rivalries, and strange new feelings are beginning to make her life a sticky, complicated mess! There’s guaranteed to be a sweet treat with every adventure when you take a walk through TAMAKO MARKET!
