We learned in December 2019 that the Hypnosis Mic multimedia project had opted to add an anime component to its ranks after working through manga, stage plays, and more with Hypnonsis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima. The project saw an October 2nd, 2020 debut date in Japan, and Funimation picked it up for streaming which recently saw the move to Crunchyroll.

Now, as part of AnimeJapan 2023, a second season has been announced with the same name but slapping a “+” at the end of it. No details about production staff, cast, or when it will arrive were revealed.

Katsumo Ono is directing the series based on the scripts by Shin Yoshida. Minako Shiba is handling the character designs with A-1 Pictures working on the animation production.

Plot Concept: Legendary rap group The Dirty Dawg could have taken Japan by storm, but they broke up before they could. Now each member has joined one of four rival groups-fighting for the territories Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. Battles for turf are fought with Hypnosis Mics. These special microphones have the power to affect the human spirit, and people now use rap to determine superiority.
