2 min read

Marvel Comics has played around with the Thunderbolts concept a bit in the past few years but there’s also been talk of a film for much of that time as well. The property, which is basically a kind of Suicide Squad when you look at it from 30,000 feet, previously brought on Jake Schreier to direct the film. We knew previously that Eric Pearson, who worked on the Black Widow film, was working on a screenplay for Marvel Studios with Kevin Feige naturally producing it.

Now, a new bit of casting has been revealed for the film that’s set for a July 26th, 2024 release as Steven Yeun has joined the project. According to Deadline, no role was revealed and Marvel has no comment, but the insider information that they have indicates that this is a role that could move into future films beyond this one. Yeun is known by many for his role in The Walking Dead as well as the film Minari and the role he had in Nope.

The previously announced cast includes:

  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Countessa Valentina
  • Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
  • Wyatt Russell as John Walker
  • Sebastian Stan as the Bucky Barnes
  • David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov
  • Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov
  • Ayo Edebiri
  • Steven Yeun

Plot concept: The story revolves around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.
