Crunchyroll Adds ‘Dog & Scissors’ Anime English Dub Streaming

Find out if dogs and cutting implements can ever co-exist

Dogs & ScissorsOne series that worked for me far better than I thought it would years ago was the twelve-episode series Dog & Scissors. The show is one that was licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America and they released it in subtitled-only DVD form at first. It did well enough to get them to go back and re-release it on Blu-ray but also to create a dub for it.

Now, the show in English dubbed form has arrived on Crunchyroll’s service after the original Japanese language version was previously available. The full twelve-episode run is available right out of the gate for fans to check out, which I definitely recommend if you passed over it before.

Check out Josh’s view of the series, Richard’s view of the series, and my view of the original DVD release.

Directed by Emily Neves, the cast includes Blake Shepard as Kazuhito Harumi, Jessica Calvello as Natsuno Kirihime, Joanne Bonasso as Suzuna, John Gremillion as Toji, Brittney Karbowski as Maxi Akizuki, Monica Rial as Yayoi Honda, Chris Hutchison as Afro Gomez, Julia Traber as Sumitani, John Swasey as Genji, Luci Christian as Sarai, Nancy Novotny as Sakura Honda, Carli Mosier as Sachi Moribe, Juliet Simmons as Madoka Harumi, David Wald as Munakata, John Swasey as Fumio Honda, Luci Christian as Hami, Leraldo Anzaldua as Macho, David Wald as Daimon and Emily Neves as Himehagi Momiji.

Plot concept: Harumi Kazuhito was the ultimate bookworm, spending days at a time with his head buried in his beloved books, and little could make him happier than perusing the pages of his favorite author, Kirihime Natsuno. Unfortunately, Harumi’s life goes to the dogs – literally – when he gets himself killed while trying to stop a robber!

Thanks to the power of a true bookworm, however, Harumi inexplicably finds himself reincarnated as a dog… which might not be so bad if dogs could read. Or if the woman who adopts him didn’t have twin predilections for playing with scissors and tormenting her new pet! But what truly makes this strange reincarnation the worst of all possible worlds is that she’s also his favorite author! The horror! Can Harumi find a way to live with this tantrum-throwing typist, or will her crazed clippings prove to be his undoing?
