It’s been a long time since the original Black Rock Shooter anime project came out but we that a new one is in the mix with the Disney+ Japan series Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall. With the series getting underway back on April 3rd, 2022, we’re now seeing some new distribution for it. Hulu has added the show to their service in dubbed and subtitled form under their Hulu Originals banner.
Tenshi directed the series at Bibury Animation and worked, naturally with Bibury Animation CG. It was produced with scripts that were written and overseen by Makoto Fukami and Ryo Yoshigami. Rui Tomono and Yojo Ota set the original concept designs with Masayuki Nonaka and Yo Nakaga as the character designs and the chief animation directors.
The Japanese main cast includes Yui Ishikawa as Empress, Saori Hayami as Dead Master, Megumi Han as Strength, Ayaka Asai as Monica, Misaki Kuno as Black Trike, Takuya Kirimoto as Colonel, Tomokazu Sugita as Smiley, Akane Tomonaga as Lunatic, Saya Horigome as Norito, and Asuka Itou as Miya.
The opening theme song is “ASEED” by ZAQ while Kanako Takatsuki will perform the ending theme song with “Before the Nightmare.”

Plot Concept: The year is 2062. Earth has been left in ruin after the failure of a labor automation project when the AI called Artemis waged war against humanity. A girl, Empress, awakens in a research lab. As one of the three surviving guardians, she must destroy the Orbital Elevator before Artemis can complete its construction. Failure will result in a machine army overrunning Earth. However, Artemis’ Unmanned Forces and a cult may have motives of their own.
