‘Disgaea’ Anime Gets Theme Songs Streaming

The Disgaea anime is getting a little bit of new attention as the show is getting its theme songs streamed by NBC Universal Japan today as part of their Anime x Music 30th-anniversary event. The show features the opening theme song “Aishitageru” by LOVERIN TAMBURIN and the ending theme song with “Kusari” by Akiko Kawakami.

Originally airing in 2003, the series was directed by Kiyotaka Isako based n the series composition by Atsuhiro Tomioka. Akira Kano handled the character designs with OLM handling the production.

The Japanese cast includes Kaori Mizuhashi as Laharl, Tomoe Hanba as Etna, Yuko Sasamoto as Flonne, Chihiro Suzuki as Vyers, Chiwa Saito as Jennifer, Nobuo Tobita as Gordon, and Yurika Ochiai as Thursday.

The English dub was produced by PCB Productions with Keith Arem directing it. The cast includes Barbara Goodson as Laharl, Michelle Ruff as Etna, Sandy Fox as Flonne, and Grant George as Vyers.

Plot Concept: From the darkest realms of another dimension emerges the story of Laharl, the son of a demon overlord, and his two sidekicks: his impish servant and an angelic assassin. Awoken from a two-year, poison-induced nap, Laharl learns of his father’s demise and blazes a trail of destruction on his quest to declare rule over the Netherworld. Never skimping on the wisecracks, the diabolical prince and his accomplices battle dragons, sorceresses, robots, power-hungry humans, and corrupt angels.
