It’s time to go back to a classic with the 20th-anniversary release of the G-On Riders anime series as Frontier Works has now put plans together for it in Japan. The fourteen-episode series is now set for an SDBD release that will arrive on October 26th, 2022 priced at 15,000 yen. It’ll be a BD50G release in its original Japanese language with no subtitles. The only extra listed so far is a 20-page booklet.
Originally airing in the summer of 2002, it was directed by Shinichiro Kimura and based on the series composition by Seishi Minakami based on the original work by KATSUZO. Katsuzo Hirata served as the character designer and chief animation director with SHAFT and TNK handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Masayo Kurata as Yayoi Hoshikawa, Omi Minami as Sara Arashiyama, Ryouka Shima as Yuuki Kurama, Aya Hisakawa as Mio Sanada, Kaori Mizuhashi as Mako, Kenyuu Horiuchi as Senzaburou Kujirai, Miki Machii as Pao, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Ichirou Hongou, Takako Uemura as Ai, and Yukari Tamura as Zero.
Plot Concept: At Saint Hoshikawa School there is a secret group called the G-On Riders. Students with superior strength and ability are chosen to join the group formed to fight against alien attacks on the earth. However, many of the problems that the members face are ones amongst themselves, and the same is true for the invaders. And another student at the school, Ichiro, tries desperately to confess his love to Yuki, one of the Riders.
