The spring 2017 anime adaptation of the light novel series Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?, aka SukaSuka, has its home video release plans being handled by Kadokawa. With the sixth and final volume out back on Novemnber 29th, 2017, it’s been pretty quiet since then for obvious reasons.
The series received a six-volume release that began on June 20th, 2017 with the DVDs priced at 6,600 yen while the Blu-rays are priced at 7,600 yen. Now, five years later, a Blu-ray box set is being produced for the property. It’s scheduled for a September 28th, 2022 release priced at 22,000 yen. The set will recreate the extras from before but also include a new commentary with details of it to be announced.
The Japanese cast includes Ryouhei Arai as Vilem Cumesh, Azusa Tadokoro as Kutori Nota Seniolis, Machico as Icea Mize Valgalis, Akari Uehara as Neflen Luku Insania, Kazusa Araname as Larntolk Itsuri Historia, Inori Minase as Ifuto Kay Desperatio, Tomomi Mizuma as Tiat, Yurika Kubo as Panibal, Manaka Ishimi as Lakish, Hina Kino as Coron, Akane Kohinata as Armita, Kikuko Inoue as Niglart, Chiba as Glick Gleicluck, Juurouta Kosugi as Limeskin, Satomi Sato as Armania Dufna, Honoka Inoue as Firacolribia Drio, Rina Satou as Lila Asplay and Mugito as Swon Kandel.
The work comes from writer Akira Kareno with the prequel series having delivered five volumes between 2014 and 2016. The new series released its first volume this past April and there’s also a manga adaptation out there by Kaname Seu.
Though we’ll all probably just call it SukaSuka, the title for the original series translates as Do you have what THE END? Are you busy? Shall you save xxx?.
Plot concept: Five hundred years have passed since humanity went extinct at the hands of the fearsome “beasts.” Even up in the sky, where the surviving races dwell on floating islands, these monstrosities constantly threaten to bring death and destruction. Only a small group of young girls, the Leprechauns, can wield the ancient weapons needed to defeat these creatures. Into the girls’ unstable and fleeting lives, where a call to certain death could come at any moment, enters an unlikely character: a young man who lost everything five hundred years ago, the last living human awakened from a long, icy slumber.
