A new TV anime project is on the way with the adaptation of the Yofukashi no Uta property from Kotoyama under the name Call the Night. After being announced last fall, the summer 2022 series has found its simulcast partner already. At the HIDIVE panel at Anime Boston today, it was revealed that the series will stream there. This basically means that Sentai Filmworks has the home video rights and will be working with partners to bring it out in various places.

The series will be directed by Tomoyuki Itamura with Tetsuya Miyanishi serving as the chief director. Michiko Yokote is handling the scripts with Haruka Sagawa working on the character designs.

The Japanese cast includes Gen Sato as Kou Yamori Sora Amemiya as Nazuna Nanakusa, Yumiri Hanamori as Akira Asai, and Haruka Tomatsu as Seri Kikyō. Additional cast includes Eri Kitamura as Nico Hirata, Shizuka Itou as Kabura Honda, Naomi Ōzora as Midori Kohakobe, and Azumi Waki as Hatsuka Suzushiro.

Creepy Nuts will perform the theme song and said about the project, ” Some guys can’t live until the sun goes down. I’m just such a guy. I think it’s a manga like “Night itself” that draws close to you without denying or affirming various ways of protruding, such as stretching and reopening that you can’t do under Tendou-sama. I want you not to open this page. I wish we could make such a song as well.”

The manga series from Kotoyama is known originally as Yofukashi no Uta, which began in 2019 and has eight volumes released so far as serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. Viz Media releases the series in English under the Call of the Night title.

Plot Concept: Nanakusa is a vampire. That’s okay with human Ko. He wants to be one too. But transformation doesn’t come that easily. When Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them. Then, when a cute girl from Yamori’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test.
