Crunchyroll’s continuing to work on bringing out the Dragon Ball Super anime series to fans and we learned this summer as part of the Comic-Con@Home 2021 panel that the project, announced previously for a 2022 release, will be called Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

The film was set for an April 22nd, 2022 Japanese theatrical release and it’s set for an expansive worldwide debut this year beyond there, which includes Crunchyroll bringing it out. That’s now thrown into a bit of disarry due to the recent hack that Toei Animation suffered. Several TV shows have been pushed back upwards of a month now and that hack has now impacted this film as well. The project is being delayed with no new date set yet. One will be announced in the near future.

Previously announced new cast for the film includes:

  • Miyu Irino as Dr. Hedo
  • Volcano Ōta as Magenta
  • Ryota Takeuchi as Carmine

The TV cast includes Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, Son Gohan and Son Goten, Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta, Hiromi Tsuru as Bulma, Takeshi Kusao as Trunks, Mayumi Tanaka as Krillin, Masaharu Satou as Kame-Sen’nin, Toshio Furukawa as Piccolo, Naoko Watanabe as Chi-Chi, Yuko Minaguchi as Videl, Unshou Ishizuka as Mr. Satan, Kôzô Shioya as Majin Buu, Kouichi Yamadera as God of Destruction Beerus, Masakazu Morita as Whis, Hiroshi Kamiya as Gamma #1, and Mamoru Miyano as Gamma #2.

Plot Concept: The universe versus universe tournament finally has its winner with it, a chance to wish on the Super Dragon Balls! But are they really going to wish something like that?! Then, after an unexpected visit to a bizarre planet, a sudden SOS from the future arrives in the form of Future Trunks! What horror plagues his timeline, and can the Z Fighters face a foe that looks exactly like Goku?
