Crunchyroll Adds Subtitled ‘Sabikui Bisco’ Anime Promo

2 min read

We learned way back in March 2021 about the anime adaptation of the Sabikui Bisco light novels getting the nod. The project has set Atsushi Ikariya to direct with Daisuke Mataga assisting. Sadayuki Murai is handling the scripts for it while Ai Asari and Atsushi Ikariya are working on the character designs. OZ is handling the animation production.

The series is set to debut on January 10th, 2022 and we learned previously that both Funimation and Crunchyroll will be streaming it. What I missed was that Crunchyroll put out an English subtitled version of the nearly three-minute promo that’s out there, which we’ve now added below to check out. It’ll be available United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Ryōta Suzuki as Bisco Akaboshi
  • Natsuki Hanae as Miro Nekoyanagi
  • Reina Kondo as Paū Nekoyanagi
  • Miyu Tomita as Chiroru Ōchagama
  • Shiro Saito as Jabi
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as Kurokawa

The series features the opening theme song “Kaze no Oto Sae Kikoenai.” Ryōta Suzuki and Natsuki Hanae are handling the ending theme song “Hōkō” for it.

The light novel series began in 2018 and has six volumes released so far.

Check out the official site and Twitter.

Plot Concept: The story is set in Japan after a “Rusting Wind” has corroded everything. People live in fear of the rust that corrodes cities and life in general. A boy named Bisco Akaboshi from the despised Mushroom Guardian tribe embarks on a journey to obtain the “Rust-Eating” mushroom — a miracle drug that purifies all rust — to save his dying teacher.

During his journey, Bisco encounters Miro Nekoyanagi, a good-looking young doctor at Imihama, and together they search for a countermeasure against the rust consuming Miro’s beloved big sister.
