Anime Limited Schedules ‘El-Hazard: The Magnificent World’ Anime Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Release

In this strange new land, they must choose sides in an epic battle between the human nations and the evil insectoid Bugrom tribe!

If there is one show that I’m continually happy to see come back into print and watch again, it’s the anime series El-Hazard: The Magnificent World. Last year, Nozomi Entertainment started bringing out the show on YouTube in HD in its English dubbed form, marking the first time it has been available in HD for streaming.

Now, folks in the UK are going to get access to the show in a high-quality form as Anime Limited has scheduled a collector’s edition Blu-ray release. The set has been scheduled for a January 24th, 2022 debut with the cover artwork released to the right. Priced at £59.99, it’ll be a bilingual release that contains the original seven-episode OVA series and the four-episode second series. Extras include clean openings, closings, and art galleries. The set will also come with a 52-page booklet with it all inside a rigid slipcase.

Check out our review of the North American edition.

Plot concept: Ancient ruins have been discovered beneath Makoto’s high school, but he has bigger things to deal with. He has evidence that the conniving Student Council President, Jinnai, is guilty of election fraud! But before Makoto gets his chance to testify, a strange light from the ruins transports Makoto, Jinnai, Jinnai’s sister Nanami, and their history teacher Fujisawa, to a mysterious land… the Magnificent World of El-Hazard.

There, these four unwitting travelers find a world split by forces of good and evil, where giant insects known as the Bugrom battle against humanity, and beautiful priestesses use magic to harness the power of the elements. Nothing in El-Hazard seems to make sense, but one thing is clear: they’re caught in the middle of a fantastical war with no way home!
