With a number of Predator projects out there over the years and few of them cracking the code on how to actually make a good Predator story – both in film and comics – a new one is on the horizon that was a bit hidden right in front of us. Director Dan Trachtenberg revealed this past summer that he was about 2/3rds of the way through filming Skull for 20th Century Studios and that it was actually a Predator film. The screenplay was by Patrick Aison.
As part of Disney+ Day, the studio confirmed the project and that it’s planned as a summer 2022 project under the title Prey when it arrives. It’s set to focus on about 300 years ago with the arrival of a Predator amid the Comanche Nation.
“It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work,” said producer John Davis. “It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force.”
“It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon,” added producer John Fox. “You’ll know what I mean once you see it.”
Plot Concept: Taking place early in human history, the story delves into the first time a Predator set foot on Earth.
