TC Entertainment Sets ‘Ranpou’ Anime DVD Release

TC Entertainment is going back to an older series for a new DVD release with the just-missed 35th-anniversary edition of Ranpou. Th 21-episode series is getting done as a DVD box set that will arrive on December 24th, 2021. It’ll be priced at 20,000 yen and be spread across three discs. No extras are currently solicited for it.

The 1984 series was directed by Ken Baba based on scripts by Keiko Maruo. Based on the original manga by Masatoshi Uchiazaki, Hiroshi Kanazawa handled the character designs with NAS handling the production.

The Japanese cast includes Chika Sakamoto as Ranpou, Hitomi Oikawa as Mutsumi, Ikuya Sawaki as Haruku, Kiyomi Hanasaki as Kaori, Mayumi Tanaka as Chuutaro, Sanae Miyuki as Akemi, Sukekiyo Kameyama as Karataro, and Youko Ogai as Miyuki.

Plot Concept: One day, Ranpou, a junior high school student, encountered a mysterious disk UFO. And at that time, an alien gave me a mysterious ability. If you use that ability for justice, you can become a hero at once, but Ranpou only thinks about using it for play. A laughing gag animation that causes a strange uproar in schools and towns with the genius Mouse Chutaro who can talk to Ranpou.
