Some things take a lot of time to really come to fruition and we can say that about the Megaton Musashi anime. Originally talked about back in 2016, the series from Level-5 was announced during its event at the Tokyo Game Show 2020 last fall. Set for an October 1st, 2021 debut on Tokyo MX, the Japanese side updated on the game recently but also rolled out some news on the anime. The series is still set for the same date but it’s now added several new cast members and brought out its first formal promotional video that shows off the style.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Toshiki Masuda as Yamato Ichidaiji (previously listed with Masakazu Morita)
- Shunsuke Takeuchi as Ryugo Hijikata (previously listed with Tatsuhisa Suzuki)
- Sōma Saitō as Teru Asami (previously listed with Miyu Irino)
- Kouki Uchiyama as Reiji Amemiya (previously listed with Kaito Ishikawa)
- Sumire Morohoshi as Jun Kirishima
- Megumi Han as Momoka Saotome
- Ayumu Murase as Kota Akutagawa
- Yuuki Kaji as Takumi Kindaichi
The newly announced cast includes:
- Tomoyo Kurosawa as Asuna Kanzaki
- Ayana Taketatsu as Yūka Nishino
- Mariya Ise as Sayaka Minami
- Maki Izawa as Hatsune Tendō
- Yumiri Hanamori as Haruki Kitane
- Aoi Yūki as Aoi Hoshino
- Kazuhiro Yamaji as Genta Ibushi

Property Concept: The story takes place after 90 percent of humanity wiped out due to an invasion. Survivors live in a shelter where their lives are monitored, and memories of the invasion erased. Three teenagers from the shelter are chosen to pilot three machines that combine to form the Musashi robot, made out of a material named Megatronium alloy. The series will balance robot action with school life.
