While a whole lot of us are very much deep into the world of streaming and many have moved past physical media overall, there’s still definitely a market there for it – and should be if you want to actually own a copy of something that doesn’t require being online to watch it. Even more so if you have data caps in your area!
The folks at Media Play have updated with the stats and changes for the week ending July 24th, 2021. This week sees another film that got distributed both theatrical and through HBO Max taking the top spot with Mortal Kombat for the second week in a row. With a $42 million box office take, it likely would have been higher pre-pandemic but the limits are there right now. We also get the new Spiral: From the Book of Saw in second place, while the sixth place spot gets Star Trek: Discovery — Season Three. We get more new TV with The Walking Dead: The Complete Tenth Season while the Wraith feature debuts in sixteenth place.
Most everything else from the previous week kind of slides down one or two with a few twists and changes in the mix, but we’re mostly seeing Warner Bros. at the top of the chart and a lot of variety through it overall.
