The classic finds new distribution.

Champion Joe 2While Crunchyroll began streaming this series back in March 2014, Amazon Prime is now beginning to stream Champion Joe 2, aka Ashita no Joe 2, on their service via owner TMS Entertainment. The first twelve episodes of the series are now streaming in its original Japanese language with English subtitles.

The series ran for 47 episodes when it was first broadcast back in 1980 with TMS working on the animation. This followed the 79 episode series that ran a decade prior that was based on the twenty-volume manga of the same name.

Plot concept: Joe, one of the top ranked boxers in the world, no longer has the yearning or desire to enter the ring again after killing his previous opponent by landing a wicked left jab to his temple. His confidence and competitive spirit is restored when he decides to overcome his fear by facing the uncrowned king from Venezuela, Carlos Rivera.
