Originally developed as a Nintendo DS game back in 2007 in Japan and seeing mobile adaptations later on, the Final Remix version of The World Ends With You RPG arrived for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. We learned at the end of June 2020 that it’s making the leap to anime form and Funimation picked it up not long after that.

We’ve known that it was set for an April 2021 debut and now with the drop of a new promotional video, a firm April 9th, 2021 premiere date has been set. We also have a new key visual that you can see below.

The group Ali will handle the opening theme song “TEENAGE CITY RIOT” for the show.

The series has Kazuya Ichikawa on board to direct with Midori Gotou handling the scripts at Sanzigen. It’s worth noting as well that Takeharu Ishimoto is composing the music for it having done the game music. DOMERICA and Shin-Ei Animation are handling the production. Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi are credited for the character designs.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kouki Uchiyama as Neku
  • Anna Hachimine as Shiki
  • Subaru Kimura as Beat
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Rhyme
  • Ryouhei Kimura as Joshua
