What happens when there’s more than one demon vying to be King of Hell? Hades is about to show Twilight why you don’t let your guard down in the cutthroat world of demons. To put the screws on daddies boy Twilight, Hades snatches Syalis in her sleep and takes the captive, captive.
Cue the panic from the demon high table. First, they don’t think anything is wrong as they assume Syalis is just out of her cell. Then they get a gloating message from Hades which swiftly turns into a comedy of errors where Hades is shown to be an emperor with no clothes in the purview of the Princess.
The old demon castle is mostly derelict and falling apart. It is, quite frankly, a dump. There is one highlight in the trap-filled mess of a castle and unexpected resident. Hypnos, the god of sleep, is happily napping away inside. Syalis immediately recognizes like and bows to her new sensei of sleep. Hypnos is happy to find someone as obsessed with sleep as he and he imparts all his knowledge upon the resourceful Princess.
Hades thinks he has the upper hand over the upstart Twilight now. He is oblivious to what Syalis is up to in his own castle. He doesn’t realize that she has done to him what she has done to her usual haunt. Traps are repurposed and magical items destroyed as pillows and mattresses are constructed.
As for the demons, they arrive in a panic trying to lure out Syalis like a lost cat. They call out offering her a comforter and sweets and all sorts of things while she remains one step ahead in heading home under her own power. Hades never realizes exactly what Twilight and his demons really want. They want their princess back… THEIR princess!
This episode marks a turning point in this relationship between captors and captive. Syalis escapes the clutches of Hades, and thinks only of heading home to her bed. Her bed… in the Demon Castle, which she refers to as home. When the demons return Twilight looks visibly upset as he finally seems to be aware that someday the Hero will come for Syalis. Someday she will return to the human realm. It’s possible that maybe, just maybe, they like the chaos she brings?
In Summary:
Once again, Princess Syalis’s priorities as a captive are a bit skewed. While Demon King Twilight and his castle have learned the hard way that their victim is a handful, Hades has no idea what he has done by double-kidnapping her. A change in scenery just means a new challenge for the princess of DIY projects. What is a major crisis for the demons of Twilight’s castle, Syalis sees as an inconvenience. This episode is the clearest example that the way the demons and their captive think of each other have changed. It’s also one of the funniest episodes of the show overall.
