Originally serialized in Comic Bavel from the October 2020 installment, Impatient Lovers is a twenty-page story from creator Mori Okojjo, marking their debut on the service. I definitely like trying out new artists and wish that FAKKU had a spotlight feature for such things so that it was clearer when they added someone new onto the site. Okojjo’s artwork is definitely appealing here with a really nice flavor and style to it that isn’t the traditional kind that we usually get. You can see areas where they’re still getting it “right” in some ways but a lot of what’s here shows off the male and female form well and will only get better with regular work and more experience in showing off different body types. But there’s a lot to like for something that doesn’t feel standard.

The story introduces us to two shoe store employees named Tsuchiya and Yuuki as they work on inventory and getting things done. Tsuchiya’s struggling a bit to get the numbers in and her coworker Yuuki is kind of gruff about it with her since he’s been doing this long by all feeling. To get it done, he gives her his phone to talk to the boss and get it worked out, which she does, but she’s frustrated by the picture of him and his girlfriend on it. It’s clear Tsuchiya has the hots for Yuuki and is intent on getting one over on the competition. Even Yuuki’s aware of it when, later that night, they talk videogames a bit and that sets things in a way where she basically invites herself over to his place.

This is where the storytelling is weak because it picks up right after they cross the door into his place and he’s carrying her and undressing her. It’s one of the quickest and most awkward transition scenes that I’ve seen before. It leads into the two of them getting down and dirty quickly and some of the pacing for it is off with the flow of it all, but the gist of it is well-covered so that it’s not something that leaves you cringing over it. But it’s the kind of piece where, as erotic as it does get, you see more of where this artist can go in the next couple of years in working their craft. Especially with the facial designs and hair for it where it’s got a really strong and distinctive look.

In Summary
I can see a whole lot of potential here with Mori Okojjo as just those first few pages with the character designs had me excited to see more. As much as I enjoy “traditional” anime designs, there’s a lot of different things done with hentai at times like this that feels like we get more variety from artists that’s appealing. Okojjo’s artwork here is great but it definitely needs to evolve from what comes across as presenting models to presenting full erotica. It’s got a lot of great moments and I adore the facial designs, and it has a lot of potential that I’m excited to see explored.
