One series we haven’t heard much from in a long time is about to get a new release in Japan with Glass Fleet. We learned in early October 2020 that the twenty-six episode series is getting a new release in Japan from Avex Pictures as they’ve set an SDBD release for it. The single-disc collection is scheduled for a December 11th, 2020 debut where it’ll be priced at 19,800 yen. It’s being done at the “high rate” style and I believe it has a mode set for it where you can watch it without the opening and closing sequences.
With that coming up fairly soon overall, the finalized cover artwork has been released and I can’t say I’m surprised they re-used the artwork from the right. It’s an incredibly striking piece that the show can’t do justice to and it looks great. The addition of the logo I think actually makes it work even more as we see it below in full.
Funimation released the series in North America with DVD-only editions available, which the last edition came out back in 2008.
Plot Concept: A revolution stirs in the dark reaches of space. Michel Volban leads The People’s Army against the oppression of self-proclaimed Holy Emperor, Vetti Sforza. Just as it appears the rebellion will be crushed, a hero arrives to join the fight. Pirate Cleo Corbeille—the last of the fallen Royal Family—steers his sleek battleship into battle and brings new hope that freedom can be obtained.
