‘Star Trek Discovery’ Reveals Third Season Opening Titles

2 min read
The future of Star Trek begins to reveal itself.

The second season of Star Trek: Discovery wrapped up in a big way and delivered exactly the kind of cliffhanger I wanted and a chance to really do something new. CBS All Access renewed the series for a third season and revealed that Michelle Paradise will serve as co-showrunner with Alex Kurtzman previously

The third season was recently given a new teaser that revealed an October 15th, 2020 debut. With the show just about to hit, the official social media side has dropped the opening credits sequence sans actual credits, giving us a look at the changes made to it from prior seasons. There’s plenty of possibilities to take from this, though I hope the “black hole” style imagery at the end doesn’t mean they go back in time by the end of the season. I’m definitely excited for this season to see how they can future-forward the show technology-wise and with how the shell of the Federation exists and tries to come back.

The cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green as Rainsford, Doug Jones as Saru, Anthony Rapp as Stamets, James Frain as Sarek, Terry Serpico as Anderson, Maulik Pancholy as Nambue, Sam Vartholomeos as Connor, Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou, Shazad Latif as Kol, Chris Obi as T’Kuvma and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell.

Plot concept: After following Commander Burnham into the wormhole in the second season finale, season three of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY finds the U.S.S. Discovery crew landing into an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.
