The folks at GKIDS haven’t done much with From Up on Poppy Hill when it comes to home video releases since it came out back in 2014 or so in that form. Now, the company has plans for separate DVD and Blu-ray re-releases according to listings on the Target site. It has the DVD at $13.97 and the DVD/BD combo pack at $19.98. There are no details or dates included in the preliminary listing but they are coming through Shout! Factory and we’re really hoping for some steelbook editions.

Plot Concept: Set in Yokohama in 1963, the story centers on an innocent romance beginning to bud between Umi and Shun, two high school kids caught up in the changing times. Japan is picking itself up from the devastation of World War II and preparing to host the 1964 Olympics — and the mood is one of both optimism and conflict as the young generation struggles to throw off the shackles of a troubled past. As Umi and Shun’s tentative relationship begins to blossom, a buried secret from their past emerges to cast a shadow on the future and pull them apart.
